ABOUT ME

Welcome to my food blog! My name is Kasey and when I'm not hating on cilantro, I'm spending time with my husband, Mark, and our 90 lb lap dog, Guinness.

We live in the Bay Area, California and try to make the most of this beautiful place we call home - spending time hiking, swinging by the farmer's market, enjoying a glass of wine, trying out new restaurants, hosting friends for dinner, or driving out to the beach (i.e, heaven for Guinness).

I am a self-taught cook and love learning new techniques and getting inspiration from restaurants, books, blogs, and local produce. I often wing it in the kitchen and am rarely precise with my measurements. I taste, adapt, adjust, and iterate - and I recommend you do the same! Cooking is not a science, it's an art.

I created this blog to store cherished recipes, but I vow never to force you to read through my life history at the top of each post. You know what I'm talking about.

ABOUT THE NAME

cilantro (coriandrum satvium)

This devious little herb. A fresh, citrusy garnish to some, a nightmarish mouthful of soap to others. I unfortunately find myself in the camp of cilantro-haters, carrying a genetic defect that can swiftly turn a perfectly good burrito into a tortilla-covered bath bomb.

I pride myself in my adventuresome culinary spirit. I love cooking and traveling the world to try new cuisines and I will eat just about anything. Gluten? Yup. Lactose? Yup. Meat? Yup. Cilantro? Nope.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to be polarizing. This is a food blog for anyone, not just my fellow cilantro-haters. It’s for anyone who enjoys healthy(ish), fuss-free, tasty home cooking.

Maybe in my lifetime, we’ll discover a cure for my genetic defect and I’ll come to cherish the good side of this herb, but for now, here’s a set of recipes that are 100% cilantro-free for those of you who find this meddlesome herb as annoying as I do.
