Sugar and plums and everything nice - the epitome of summer.

My favorite part about summer is the endless bounty of stone fruits and I'm lucky enough to have access to a few prolific plum trees at my parents' home. Every year I wait patiently for the plums to arrive, and then suddenly...they arrive...and they arrive in numbers...leaving me inundated more plums than any reasonable human can consume. And so I discovered this super easy plum sorbet - sweet, tart, refreshing - a perfect ending to a summer meal!
Cook time | 1 hour, plus prep time for ice cream machine as needed |
Servings | 6-8 |
Ingredients
~15-20 plums, pits removed and chopped into large pieces (skin can stay on)
~1 cup sugar (or more or less to your liking)
Instructions
Prep your ice cream maker as needed - if you have the Cuisinart Gelateria like me you'll need to freeze the tub overnight or at least ~6 hours.
Roughly chop plums, removing pits but keeping skins on.
Toss into a blender and puree until smooth. Add a touch of water if needed to blend.
Add sugar and taste to your liking, blend again.
Pour into ice cream maker and follow instructions for sorbet - for mine I click the "sorbet" button and let it run for ~25-30 minutes.
Throw into the freezer to let cool further...or enjoy right away!
